Creating a transparent menu on ubuntu

Written By shodiq on Kamis, 22 Desember 2011 | 10.32

Compiz is a feature "Windows killer" on the Linux operating system. With Compiz, we can present interesting effects and animations on the desktop. Coupled with the Settings Manager CompizConfig or better known as the CCSM which is central to setting Compiz on Linux. On this occasion I would like to give to friends tricks on how to create a menu to be transparent through CCSM.

The first time you install the first CompizConfig Settings Manager by typing the following command in Terminal:

sudo apt-get install CompizConfig-settings-manager

After the installation is complete, open the Settings Manager CompizConfig by way of "System> Preferences> CompizConfig Settings Manager" then go to the "Accessibility" and check the "Opacity, Brightness, and Saturation". See the picture below (click to enlarge):

Then click on the "Opacity, Brightness, and Saturation", select the tab "Opacity", in the "Window specific settings" click the button "New" and fill in such a way that it becomes like the image below:

You can change the "Window values" according to taste, the smaller numbers then the menu will be more transparent. If you are finished editing click on the "Close"
