Effeck Compiz Fusion 3D desktop is a lot better when compared with the Aero effect on Windows Operating System Vista and Windows 7. Compiz can be enabled by right-clicking on the Desktop, then choose "Change Desktop Background": Visual Effects, and then you select "none", "normal" or "extra".
